This time: The four-year honors course will be implemented in the state from the next academic year. In this situation, the pressure of studies on the colleges will increase a lot, as well as the question is whether the appearance of the state universities will remain the same? What exactly will be the role of large institutions like Calcutta, Kalyani, North Bengal, Burdwan, West Bengal State University in providing higher education as a result of implementing this policy? Long-running post-graduate courses are also going to lose importance?

The Department of Higher Education has announced the implementation of guidelines for four-year undergraduate degree courses in line with the National Education Policy. But they are still silent on what exactly the postgraduate course will look like in the universities. In this case, if the postgraduate course is made one year according to the national education policy, will there be enough students?

This question has come up strongly from the education sector. Because meritorious students will get direct PhD or research opportunity after getting certain marks only after four years graduation course. As a result, why should they enroll in a one-year postgraduate course?

As a result, many people are of the opinion that these universities will become only research institutes due to the lack of importance of PG course, which is a long line of applications after completing the college in Calcutta, Kalyani, North Bengal or Burdwan University.
