EPS file (what it is and how to open it), A file with an EPS file extension is an encryption PostScript file. They are usually used by drawing applications to describe how to create images, drawings or layouts. EPS files can contain both text and graphics to describe how the vector image is drawn, but it usually includes the bitmap preview image “encapsulated”. EPS was based on the initial version of the AI format. Encapsulated PostScript files can use EPSF or EPSI file extensions.
How to open an EPS file

Verify that the file you are using is actually an encryption PostScript file. Sometimes file extensions are typed incorrectly, so what you think of an EPS file may be something completely different. For example, ESP looks similar to EPS but is used for plugins such as Elder Scrolls and Disruptive Video Games.
If you try to open an ESP file with the above eps opener and editors, you will probably get an error. EPP files are similar in that they look a lot like reading EPS. In fact, EPP files are associated with a number of file formats, but none of them are related to encrypted PostScript files.
